Automatic Line Coloring

simple animation for process engineering

How long does it take you to make lines and switch-elements in the processing visualisation dynamic?

With zenon, you do not have to programme any extra lines of code or scripting.

One of the guiding priciples of COPA-DATA's development of zenon is to make the animation of process engineering as simple as possible.  With automatic line colouring, you can give users a better overview of the facility with little extra work in the development system.

Automatic Line Colouring (ALC) and status are configured instead of scripted.  Once you have pre-defined the colours and status you want to use, you can apply the ALC properties to lines, polylines, tubes and picture elements in a couple of mouseclicks.  zenon then colours the lines automatically depending on the status of the procedural elements and the ALC settings.

What is automatic line colouring?

By engineering the entire line structure with all connected elements (switches, valves, generators, loads etc) with in the process pictures, they are seen by the system as a model.  The resulting media flow (electrical power, etc) is automatically depicted in the Runtime.  All existing elements can then be ‘made live’ to show critical status of flow in all parts of the process.

How does zenon’s automatic line colouring work?

COPA-DATA has designed ALC to allow for easy engineering and to provide universal functionality based on the existing elements.

First, select the colours and status that you want to standardise on within the application.

Second, in a few clicks you apply automatic line colouring to the appropriate lines, polylines, pipes and combination elements in your application.

Third, link the various elements within the picture.

Because, with zenon ALC, you pre-define the colours and status for each application in advance, you are assured of consistency within the application.  You can then easily replicate the ALC model across projects – ensuring cross-project consistency and functionality.

What does this mean for you?

• Less development time for applications
• A consistent and clear overview of the facility
• Better management of the facility availability
